Stop buying software. Connect Claude to your data.
Your next marketing tool is the AI you already pay for.
Richard RowleyEvery marketing team I meet has the same problem. Too many tools. Data spread across all of them. Hours lost moving numbers from one to the next.
The usual fix is another tool. A dashboard to sit on top of the others. Or, lately, a custom AI build.
Both miss the point. The fix is to connect the AI you already have to the data you already own.
Stop buying software
The marketing stack grew one subscription at a time. An SEO platform. Analytics. A CRM. A project tracker. A reporting dashboard. Each has its own login and its own export. Each solves one problem and adds another silo.
Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini change the maths. They read, write, analyse and act. Connected to your data, one assistant covers work that used to take five tools.
Before you renew a subscription, ask one question. Could the AI do this job with the data plugged in? More often than you think, it can.
And certainly don't build it yourself
Building your own AI tool feels like progress. It is a detour.
I know the temptation. I built an SEO reporting platform and sold it in 2017. I would skip that build today.
The models improve every few months. A custom build starts ageing the day you ship it. Someone has to maintain it, and that someone rarely works in marketing.
Leave the engineering to the AI companies. They have more of it than you.
Connect Claude to your data
The value sits in the connections. Engineers call this the harness. In plain English, it is the setup around the AI. It has three parts.
Connections. Claude plugs straight into your tools. Email, calendar, Google Drive, Analytics, Search Console, your CRM, your SEO platform, your accounts. It reads the data where it lives, so you stop exporting spreadsheets.
Instructions. Write a process down once and Claude follows it every time. Claude calls these skills. A house style guide. A site audit checklist. The way your team builds the monthly report. A skill is a short document. Anyone who can write a brief can write one.
A record. Chat history is a poor filing system. Keep projects, decisions and next actions in a shared place such as Airtable, Notion or a spreadsheet. Claude updates it as the work moves.
That is the whole job. No codebase. No maintenance contract. No new login.
What a connected team looks like
Once the data is connected, a normal week changes shape:
- Morning brief. Claude reads the inbox, the industry newsletters and the calendar, then flags what matters today.
- Reporting. It pulls Search Console and Analytics data and drafts the commentary. The team checks the numbers and sharpens the story.
- Email. It drafts replies in the brand's voice. A person approves each one before it goes.
- AI visibility. It checks how the brand shows up in AI answers and suggests content to close the gaps.
- Projects. It logs decisions and keeps the status of every piece of work current.
- Finance. It checks invoices and cash position in the accounts software.
One window. The tools sit behind it.
Where people still matter
Some tools have no connector yet. Claude can work through a browser for those, but it is slower. Judgement stays with the team. So do sign-offs. Someone reads every email before it sends and every number before it reaches a client.
Start here
- Pick one AI and commit. Splitting work across three assistants splits your setup three ways.
- Connect three tools you use every day. Email, calendar and analytics is a strong start.
- Write down one process you repeat. A weekly report, a content brief, a site check. Turn it into a skill.
- Keep a record outside the chat. A spreadsheet works. Have the AI update it.
- Add one connection a week. In two months, most of your marketing runs through one window.
Marketing is the easy place to start. Finance, admin and operations follow the same pattern.
Want help connecting yours?
This is the work I do now. I connect Claude to your marketing data: analytics, Search Console, CRM, email, shared drives and reporting. Then I write the instructions so it works the way your team works.
You end up with fewer subscriptions, one place to ask questions, and answers built on your own numbers.
If your data sits in ten tools and nobody trusts the dashboard, let's talk. Message me on LinkedIn or email [email protected].
